Formation
Initial Formation
The initial formation period lasts four years and consists of three stages: Aspirancy, Postulancy, and Novitiate.
Aspirancy
A time of discernment, when one learns about the communal life and unique spirituality of the Order while deepening their understanding of vocation.
Postulancy
A preparatory stage for the novitiate, where one confirms their calling and suitability for religious life. During this period, postulants engage in apostolic ministry, particularly in the social welfare missions of the Order.
Novitiate (2 years)
The formal beginning of monastic life, during which one deeply studies and embraces the three evangelical counsels—chastity, poverty, and obedience—and integrates into communal living. This period prepares novices for a life of mission and service in accordance with the charism of the Order.
Temporary Vow Period
The temporary vow period lasts approximately six years, from first vows to final vows. During this time, members cultivate a deeper integration of prayer, community life, and apostolic service, further internalizing the essence of consecrated life and strengthening their commitment to the vowed life.
This period is particularly focused on deepening and embodying the charism and spirituality of the Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, embracing its founding spirit, and integrating it with their personal vocation and spirituality. Through this process, they firmly establish their identity as members of the Congregation.

Perpetual Vow Period (Ongoing Formation Period)
The final vow is a solemn commitment to dedicate one’s life entirely to God. A nun who has taken her final vows bears responsibility for both the religious community and the Church, striving for her own spiritual perfection while growing in greater love and service.
Formation in religious life is a lifelong journey of growth. As the years of vowed life progress, each member is called to continuously deepen her spiritual, intellectual, and apostolic development, remaining attentive to the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Therefore, even after final vows, the congregation provides ongoing formation, including periodic re-education (such as a one-month renewal program) and extended training sessions lasting six months at designated intervals to support the continued growth of its members.
